  • Non-stimulant options

Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

Anxiety Disorders

Susan Walsh is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with Full Practice Authority in Illinois. With more than two decades of experience in healthcare and leadership, she brings a deep understanding of complex mental health needs.

She specializes in treating:

What services do you provide?

CalmPath Mental Health offers comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, diagnostic assessment, and ongoing follow-up care for children, adolescents, and adults. Do you provide therapy or counseling?

CalmPath primarily provides medication management and supportive psychoeducation. If therapy is clinically recommended, we assist with referrals to trusted local and telehealth therapists.

Are appointments virtual or in person?

We currently offer telehealth appointments throughout Illinois and limited in-office appointments at:

How long are appointments?

  • Initial Evaluation: 60 minutes

  • Follow-up Appointments: 20–30 minutes

    Do you accept insurance?

    CalmPath Mental Health currently offers cash-based/self-pay services.
    Payments are due at the time of service. We can provide a superbill for you to submit to insurance for possible reimbursement.

    • Online payments through your patient portal

    Can I use HSA or FSA?

    Yes, mental health services are typically eligible expenses under HSA/FSA accounts.

    Do you offer payment plans?

    Yes. Payment plans may be available depending on service type. Contact us to discuss options.

    How do I schedule an appointment?

    Use the “Schedule Appointment” button on the website or call our office. New and returning clients can access online booking 24/7.

    What is your cancellation policy?

    We require 24-hour notice for cancellations.
    Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a $50–$100 fee, depending on appointment type.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your initial visit includes:

  • A full psychiatric evaluation

  • Medication history review

  • Symptom assessment

  • Safety screening

  • Treatment planning

  • Time for your questions and concerns

How often will I need follow-up visits?

Most clients are seen every 4–6 weeks, depending on stability and clinical needs. Some conditions may require more frequent visits during treatment adjustments.

⭐ MEDICATION & PRESCRIBING QUESTIONS

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

Yes, when clinically appropriate and after full assessment.
This may include stimulants for ADHD or certain medications for anxiety and sleep.
We follow strict state and federal guidelines.

Will I receive medication at my first appointment?

While some clients do, medication is not guaranteed on the first visit. Clinical decisions depend on the evaluation, diagnosis, history, and safety considerations.

Do you refill medications early?

No. Early refills cannot be provided unless there is a documented clinical reason. Lost or stolen medication cannot be replaced.

How do I request a medication refill?

Refill requests should be submitted through your patient portal or at scheduled appointments. Most refills require follow-up every 4–6 weeks.

How do telehealth appointments work?

Appointments are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.
You will receive a link before your appointment.

What do I need for telehealth visits?

  • A quiet, private environment

  • Stable internet connection

  • Smartphone, tablet, or computer with camera and microphone

Can you see clients located outside Illinois?

No. We can only treat clients who are physically located in Illinois at the time of the appointment.

What if I am experiencing a crisis?

CalmPath Mental Health does not provide emergency crisis services.
If you are in danger or experiencing a mental health emergency:
